"The choice of education as our topic for today's lecture is of course very timely. No less that the current DEPED Secretary Jesli Lapus has been quoted as saying that the quality of education in the country had sunk to its lowest leve, observing that "The problem is systemic. The entire system is seriously affected..." The positive thing about this education crisis is that it has finally drawn the attention not only of our highest government officials but many other sectors of our society, and particularly the private sector. Indeed, Philippine business, concerned about the crisis' impact on our competitiveness, has now launched various initiatives to address this crisis."
