| Introduction
The
Ateneo School of Government believes
in developing public sector leaders
who are "fired by a vision, armed
with competence and inspired by virtue."
By orienting public officials and
politicians towards the fundamentals
of leadership in society, the ASG
hopes that it will have a multiplying
and sustaining effect in the promotion
of good governance in the country's
public institutions.
The ASG's
Leadership and Governance Program
builds on the Jesuit university's
long-standing tradition of academic
excellence, which challenges each
student to apply this ingrained standard
of excellence to his society. The
Ateneo's vision upholds the Christian
value of applying one's knowledge
and skills to the service of others.
Objectives
1. Assist
leaders (both elective and appointive)
to deal more effectively with emerging
challenges in public service -- defining
and clarifying issues, proposing agendas
for collaborative action and developing
policy options to promote development
and good governance.
2. Identify
potential public sector leaders and
participate actively in their formation.
3. Develop
a cadre of 'kindred spirits' who have
a command of the technical, political,
organizational and ethical elements
of governance, towards the achievement
of excellence in public service.
4. Strengthen
and nourish principles and values
of good leaders in government.
The Leadership
and Governance Program has three key
elements: the Leadership Sanctuary,
a certificate course on Leadership
Development, and Leadership Research.
